Black Health Compass Forum Rules & Guidelines
Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive space for conversations around health within the Black community. To create a constructive environment, we ask all members to abide by these guidelines:
Respect &Inclusivity
- Be Kind, Be Open: We strive to build a community where everyone feels included, regardless of background, beliefs, or health struggles. Avoid discriminatory language, personal attacks, or divisive rhetoric.
- Debate Ideas, Not People: Disagreements are natural. Discuss issues with respect, understanding that personal experiences with health impact perspectives.
- Celebrate Diversity: Embrace the variety of experiences and knowledge Black communities bring to discussions of health and wellness.
Content & Information
- Sharing is Caring: Freely offer support, and advice rooted in your lived experience. While we believe in the power of peer support, always encourage seeking professional medical help for personal health matters.
- No Self-Promotion: The forum is about connection, not selling services/products. Keep posts relevant to health topics rather than business agendas.
- Credible Sources: If sharing health articles or statistics, please reference reliable sources or clearly label information as an opinion or personal anecdote. Misinformation, particularly relating to medical treatments, has real consequences.
- Keep it On-Topic: We have dedicated sub-forums for different aspects of health and community matters. Keep your posts in the appropriate section for more productive conversations.
Protecting the Community
- Report, Don’t Respond: If you encounter hate speech, bullying, or content that goes against our mission, please use the ‘Report’ function on posts. Our moderators will review and take action.
- Privacy Matters: Avoid sharing your own or others’ sensitive personal health details on public forums. Direct messaging exists for a reason if discussing specific cases.
- Forum-Based Issues: For forum technical issues or account problems, contact Support@blackhealthcompass.com rather than posting in general forum areas.
Consequences
We hope these are common-sense guidelines for positive community interaction. Moderators will address violations, potentially leading to warnings, temporary suspension, or account removal in extreme cases.
Our Vision
The Black Health Compass Forum exists to foster connection, information, and empowerment when dealing with health challenges. Let’s work together to make it a space where every voice feels valued and safe.
